It’s a “No'” for 5229 Oakbourne Avenue, Solterra.

Welcome to our review of “Dean’s Villa”, 5229 Oakbourne Avenue, Solterra Resort, Davenport Florida.

I’m going to start by saying we had a problem with the booking – a quite major one. And it would be easy for you to assume therefore that our opinion of the villa was somewhat skewed and malicious as a consequence. Hopefully by the end of this post you will see it as a fair and balanced review which will give you some information to mull over when considering this property. It’s quite a story but it’s relevant and I hope you’ll persevere and read through until the end.

I could tell you, but then I’d have to…

So, continuing the story of the best kept secret in the history of the Minchin household.

You may recall in the first instalment that I had reluctantly decided to treat my beloved to her dream destination.  And having secured the flights and hotel, it was time to book the all important Donny & Marie concert that was the whole point of the trip.

Our surprise visit to ‘Sin City’…

Well, it really wasn’t a surprise for me.   But let me tell you how it came to pass that I found myself willingly conspiring with myself to take Sue to see the sights and lights of Las Vegas (you did know that its called ‘Sin City’ right? I didn’t – I had to google it).

Sue’s Vegas Birthday Surprise!

Oops!   I’m so busy making videos that I forgot to post the link to our video on our website.   This is the first part of our surprise trip to Vegas – well, it wasn’t a surprise to me of course, but it certainly was for Sue – we hope you enjoy and keep watching out for part two appearing soon.

The Archives – A little piece of history

A long time ago, we visited our friends Jim and Marie in Vineland, New Jersey, and while we were there we visited Jim’s local fire station where he was a volunteer fire fighter.  One sunny day, we witnessed the Cumberland Country Fire Parade – a spectacular sight for any lover of fire engines!   For those who remember the parade, enjoy the moment.

World Traveller – The Archives

Hi – Well, 2019 is well upon us and I haven’t posted anything yet on the blog – which of course is a blogger “no,no” but sometimes you have to be patient, don’t you?  Over Christmas and into the new year I have managed to finish rescuing old video footage from holidays years gone past, and now I’m into the difficult job of editing it all back together.  Of course, the footage is in old 4:3 format, but surprisingly in good condition considering it is over 20 years old in some instances.

I’ll be publishing some of these memories under their own brand – World Traveller Archives.

Here’s a taste of what’s coming in the archives – this is our first trip to New York.  It is ironic that at the time, there were two uninteresting skyscrapers in the background in many shots, while we focused our attention on the popular sights of the empire state building and the Statue of Liberty.  If only we had known the infamy that was in store for those twin towers…
