Snippets: Kuala Lumpur

DSC_9400It doesn’t matter if it is day or night.  The Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur is spectacular whatever time of day you visit.

In the heat of the day, the shimmering stainless steel and glass twin spires reflect the dazzling sunlight in all directions, almost glowing against the deep blue hue of the sky.

As night falls, they take on the colours of the sunset, before silhouetting against the midnight blue backdrop.

And after nightfall, they light up with a dazzling intensity that can be seen for miles around.

From their base they rocket into the skies, almost appearing to have no top.   From the top, the view is extraordinary and surreal – you feel almost that you could step out and walk across the landscape.

From afar, they dwarf the horizon in every direction.

There must be many vantage points for this immense sight, but none can be much better than from a facing room in the Trader’s hotel opposite the conference centre.   With floor to ceiling glass windows facing out over the park, not only do the towers dominate the view, but you get a perfect aerial view of the illuminated dancing fountains in the park below.

Highly recommended, this is one for your bucket list.  Take your sun glasses.
